Also, all sarcasm aside, in the capitalist mode of production your abilities do have to do with social needs — whether you want them to or not. You don’t produce for yourself, you produce/work for a company that appropriates your labor/abilities and turns them into the company’s profits, by selling them to people who need what you produce/provide.
